Open standards are the key to the development of barrier-free technologies since they’re easily accessible to everybody, extendible and can be applied in diverse environments. In the internet sector the SMIL standard („Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language“), that allows to prepare multimedia files for the playout on digital signage players, is well-established.
In co-operation with the renowned digital signage hardware manufacturer IAdea 42media group is up to promote Oxygen.next internationally – together with the output devices of the Taiwanese company. “IAdea firmly supports SMIL as the de facto standard for digital signage. Interoperability via open standards will help drive down hardware cost for digital signage networks and accelerate return on investment”, says IAdea-CEO John Wang. “Oxygen.next offers an exciting service that we would like to align our efforts with. We definitely see great potential working with 42media group.”
